after the somewhat difficult experience of navigating this website, Derek was great. I did not meet him in person, the funeral director managed everything but the sound of the bag pipes carried throughout the church and was beautiful.

I had Derek Young perform at my husband's memorial service because my husband was a bagpiper. My husband's death was unexpected, and I hadn't considered what I wanted a piper to do, only that I wanted a piper to close the service. Derek was responsive during the booking process, and his performance was perfect. He knew exactly what to do for the service, how to pace himself. Starting at the side, he marched to the center, paid tribute to my husband, then marched out. He played 4 songs with the last ones faded into the distance. There is no way to put into words the impact of that performance, and everyone said it left them in tears in the best possible way.

What a simply MARVELOUS performance by Derek. Derek Young was VERY accommodating to some simple changes we made to our Memorial schedule. He advised us what would sound good in the area we were located. His choice of songs and performance was so so awesome. Your dress was impeccable, your kindness, your smile and your sense of concern was noticed by everyone. All were so impressed they asked for his contact information. Even the Pastor of the Church said he had never seen such a performance. Derek Thank You for giving my brother the performance he wanted for his funeral. My brother Dave was looking down and smiling as his love for your performance was evident.

Derek helped me fulfill a funeral wish of my late grandmother’s. He was professional, competent, and communicated well. I hope to use him again some day under different circumstances. He made the cue perfectly and surprised and wowed all of the attendees.

Derek was great. My Mom had requested that Amazing Grace be played at her funeral service. We need a couple of extra songs to be played at the service, but were unsure what to have played. Derek suggested two other songs that fit perfectly. He was prompt, professional, and played beautifully.

Derek was fantastic. We had 30 family members gather at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for our mother’s interment, and Derek’s bagpiping was just what we needed to have a sense of closure. He was on time and in tune. We received nothing but positive feedback from the whole family about Derek’s bagpiping.
